Approve a Custom Filament Color Before You Plan Volume

Start with a physical sample when color accuracy matters most. Pantone codes or images can also guide matching, then a test sample gives your team a physical reference to review before the order moves forward.

01 — Matching Options

Choose the Reference That Matches Your Approval Standard

A physical sample, Pantone code and screen image do not carry the same information. Choose the reference your team can use to make a documented approval decision.

OPTION 01 · PREFERRED

Physical Sample

Send a physical color sample — a printed part, a swatch or an object in the target color. Measured directly, this gives the best achievable accuracy for the match.

OPTION 02

Pantone Reference

Provide a Pantone code from your brand guidelines. Works well for standardized palettes, with a reasonable difference allowance between printed filament and paper color standards.

OPTION 03

Reference Image

Send a product photo or rendering when nothing physical exists yet. Feasible, but screens and print materials shift color — expect the widest difference allowance of the three routes.

Honest by default: slight color differences may occur due to material, production batch and display conditions. We confirm the target with you on a sample before volume production rather than promising zero difference.

02 — The Process

From Reference to Production in Four Steps

STEP 01

Share Your Reference

Send the physical sample, Pantone code or image, plus material family (PLA, PLA+, Matte PLA or PETG) and expected quantity.

STEP 02

Lab Dip & Confirmation

A lab dip / color confirmation sample is prepared against your reference. The target is agreed in writing before anything scales.

STEP 03

Sample Approval

You receive the filament sample, print it on your own hardware and approve the color under your own lighting and settings.

STEP 04

Production

Volume production runs against the approved sample. Standard lead time is around 10–15 days, subject to material, color, quantity, packaging and schedule.

03 — Use Cases

Use Custom Color Only Where It Creates a Clear Market Role

USE CASE 01

Brand Signature Color

Filament brands match their identity color so every spool carries the brand — consistent across reorders and packaging generations.

USE CASE 02

Channel Exclusive Color

Distributors and retailers commission exclusive colors that cannot be cross-compared with competing shelves — a color is theirs alone for the agreed program.

USE CASE 03

Restocking an Existing SKU

Switching suppliers on a live color? Send a sample of the current SKU and we match the replacement to it, so shelf continuity holds across the transition.

04 — Fees & Quantities

The Commercial Terms, Stated Up Front

Color-matching fee. A color-matching fee may apply, and may be waived for qualifying volume orders. Whether it applies to your project is confirmed with the quotation.

Quantities. Custom colors follow the standard quotation bands (10+ / 100+ / 500+ / 1,000+), confirmed per project. If your project includes customized packaging — labels, color boxes, spools, barcodes or manuals — the reference MOQ is 1,000 spools per design, confirmed per project.

05 — Before You Ask

Color Matching, Answered Directly

How accurate will my custom color be?
Best accuracy comes from a physical sample. Pantone codes and images are also workable, but slight differences may occur due to material, production batch and display conditions. You approve a confirmation sample before volume production, so the accepted target is the one production runs against.
Is there a fee, and is there an MOQ?
A color-matching fee may apply and may be waived for qualifying volume orders. Quantities follow the quotation bands and are confirmed per project; customized packaging carries a reference MOQ of 1,000 spools per design.
How long does a custom color project take?
Matching timeline depends on the reference route and the confirmation rounds, and is confirmed per project. Once the sample is approved, standard production lead time is around 10–15 days, subject to material, color, quantity, packaging and the production schedule.
